Dirk Reimes (Germany)
In his works, Dirk Reimes deals with aesthetic phenomena of the everyday. He is a flaneur, a surfer, an observer, researching into what constitutes our most commonplace realities: images and media, objects and devices, public spheres and private spaces. Rather than just being fascinated by any formal qualities he is more interested in the underlying processes producing certain aesthetics. Consequently the outcomes of his investigations vary according to the respective subjects: his works take shape, amongst others, as installations, videos, photography, sculptures, texts. He considers his practice as "applied philosophy", where thought, discourse and action join forces. Dirk Reimes has studied with Christian Jankowski. He holds diplomas in fine art and in advertising. He lives and works in Brussels.
